Cancer Bladder Cancer

Cancer bladder cancer is caused by cells which grow out of control within the bladder lining. It can be invasive or noninvasive.

It's most common among men and those over 55. The most frequently reported sign (hematuria) is the presence of blood in the urine. Other symptoms include pain, or a weak stream of urine.

Symptoms

The presence of blood in the urine is the first sign of bladder carcinoma. It may not show up in a lab test, but it is visible to the naked eye. You may also notice that your bladder is not full and you feel the need to urinate more often. Your urine may change color, turning orange, pink, or even dark red. Blood in urine can be present or not.

This test can help detect small tumors that are missed by an CT or MRI scan.

Treatment

Your doctor will examine your urine for cancerous cells (urine cytology). They will also take blood to check how your liver and kidneys are working. They may also do an ultrasound of your bladder.

The treatment options you can choose from depend on the type of bladder cancer you have and how far it has spread.
