It's thus susceptible to getting stuck on shoes and socks and couldn't navigate densely packed rooms very well in our tests. It also doesn't have an image sensor that lets it see the corners of the room.

It's still a great option for those who want to save money on an Roomba from iRobot and have a mostly unfinished home or office. It's also very quiet and you can use it while you're at work or school. It lacks the edge-to-edge bare floor vacuuming offered in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick well and isn't able to handle dried-on debris. The smart robot employs the combination of LIDAR and structured light to draw out floor plans and identify obstacles, and navigates more effectively than its top competitors. It also has a camera mounted on the front for real-time detection of hazards, although this wasn't quite reliable in our tests and was often confused by power cords or other obstructions.

The vacuum cleaner has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to complete the task. It also features "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates how hard the vacuum works and also adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of your home according to the amount of dirt they tend to be.

For larger houses it's recommended to choose models that has zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to instruct the robot to clean one particular area of your home by using the app or voice controls. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, plan a spot clean or to prioritise your dirtiest rooms for better performance. The app also gives access to many features like seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.
