The Reason You Shouldn't Think About Improving Your Audi G28 Latia Connal 24-12-11 14:17
How to Replace an audi tt key fob not working G28 Engine Speed Sensor

In this video Charles the Humble Mechanic shows how to replace the G28 engine speed sensor. This sensor is situated on the outside of the transmission just above the flywheel gear. It transmits a signal to the ECU via an uncolored wire T55/49, then to the tachometer located on the instrument cluster.

1. Engine Speed Sensor

The grey wire is located on the edge of transmission, directly above the flywheel ring. The sensor transmits signals through the grey wire to pin T55/49. The ECU uses this information to control the amount of fuel and boost. It also sends an indication to the G5 Tachometer located in the instrument cluster.

The sensor serves as a reference point to connect with the G40 Camshaft Position Sensor. The ecu needs to be aware of when the crankshaft has reached TDC, and where the camshaft lies in order to activate the spark and injectors.

If this sensor fails, the ECU will display an error code P00160 which indicates that the Crank Shaft and Intake Camshaft are out of sync, possibly indicating chain stretch or a jumped link on the upper timing chain. The code will not appear without the additional information provided by other sensors (G4 or G40).

It is a little tricky to test because there are several connector pins, and each one has different functions. The best method replacement key for audi doing this is to measure the resistance between the ECU and the sensor. When the sensor is fully operational, it should be reading approximately 1000 ohms. If you are having problems with this part, check for signs of oil or coolant in the connector bay.

2. Injectors

Yesterday, as i was accelerating off the highway paytoll at full speed I noticed a massive drop in power. It was like the engine was running out of gas. Or my injectors weren't firing. Today, i pulled out the spark plugs, 3 were drenched with gazoline the fourth one was dry. When I crank the engine, audi Spare Key Cost there are no sparks i put tissue on the top of each hole in the injector, the 3 drenched with gazoline pop out, but the 4th stay closed. I inspected the ground connection on ECU pins 14/55,30/55 and 48/55 i get zero Ohm. I assume that the problem is somewhere else.

I also tried to reset the PID but with no luck. The car will start when the G28 is unplugged, and it is running fine with the G28 connected. However, the intermittent misfire problem still occurs at higher RPM. The coolant sensor (G62) even when unplugged, still shows temperatures of -49c. Also, i noticed that the gauge for oil pressure in the cockpit shows 2 bar while the actual pressure is 0.0 if i crank up the engine.

I'm not sure what to do, but i think i've pretty much ruled out everything else. However, i'm afraid that I may have missed something. Please let me know If you have any suggestions! TIA!

3. Fuel Pump

The fuel pump in the g28 receives a signal from the RPM sensor. The GM-style transmitter functions similarly to the G4 sender and works on the 80,100,200, UrS, and RS2 vehicles. You can easily locate an extra in a wrecking shop or parts store. Testing them is easy to do - just put your DMM in resistance mode and measure between pins 1 (with the bump on the connector end up) and 2 (2nd from the left on the black connector's end). They must be infinite Ohms.

4. ECU

Our 20vt turbo (3B, AAN, ABY and ADU) engines are equipped with an ECU that has to know the speed and position of the crankshaft to make a decision about timing of the fuel injector, replacement key for audi example. To do this, it uses a Crank Position Sensor (G4) and an Engine Speed Sensor (G28). If you are experiencing issues with either of these sensors, the diagnostic scanner will display the codes that could trigger the engine shutting down.

A failing G28 sensor could cause an inaccurate speed counter for the gearbox, a gearbox that shifts faster than normal, and/or an unfire when in the gear. If you are experiencing any of these issues, it is likely that your sensor is going bad and should be replaced. They're cheap and easy to find, especially when they're a Bosch unit like ours. Alternatively, the GM version of this unit is also a good choice.

A faulty engine speed sensor could be the reason behind many issues in your vehicle. It's a vital component of your replacement Audi a4 key's transmission, since it relays information to the ECU about how the car's crankshaft is rotating. This sensor could cause the transmission to fail and other car components to be affected.

The G5 engine sensor is located at the outskirts of the transmission, just above the flywheel ring. It transmits signals via a gray wire to the ECU pin T55/49. The ECU is then able to process this signal to regulate fuel, timig, and boost and then sends it on to the G5 tachometer in the instrument cluster. You can test for sensor failure by examining the continuity from the sensor to the tachometer. Additionally, you can check continuity between pin T55/49 of the ECU and pin T6a/1 of the instrument cluster (trace [79]) and between pin T6a/1 as well as pin T26a/12. You should detect an average resistance of 1000 ohms in these areas. This is the same across the audi a1 key 80-100-200-RS2 range, from the 1985 MC all the way up to the 1997 UrS AN and the 1995 RS2 Du, so you might find good ones in wrecking yards.
