Saab Key Programming

Saab cars manufactured since 1994 come with an immobilizer system made up of coded keys. To add an additional key, you need a new transponder and special programming. This is usually done by the dealer using a Tech2 diagnostic tool.

The problem is that this can be extremely expensive. Always keep an extra set of keys available.

Transponder key

The transponder is a type of key that is equipped with an electronic chip. The chip sends a signal when the key is put into the ignition. The car then analyzes the signal to see whether it matches the one that is in the key. If the signals are the same it will open itself and begin. This is a great way to guard your car against theft.

Transponder keys are a popular feature in automobiles, however you should be aware that they're not as secure as classic metal keys. The metal component of a traditional key can easily be cut or copied, while a transponder has an electronic chip that guards it. This chip has a unique code that is embedded into the car's computer to identify it.

When a Saab key fob is used the car recognizes it and allows it to turn on. The car can only recognize the key fob if it is equipped with a chip that is unmodified and has been programmed to match. Otherwise, the car would reject the key and won't start.

It is essential to have a spare Saab key. This is particularly important when you live in a rural area, where there are many car thieves. You can get a new key for your Saab by going to the dealership and not paying their pricey prices. Saab cars are usually provided with two keys. Jump-starting the battery

A lot of people keep a set of jumper cables in their trunks to use in an emergency, but jumping a battery in newer vehicles might not be the best choice. These vehicles are equipped with digital and computers that communicate with one another. A surge of voltage when the battery is connected to another can fry the components making your car inoperable.

Start the vehicle that is working and let it run for about two minutes before you connect the cables to the battery that is not working. Attach the red clip to the positive terminal of the battery that's good. (It will say "POS" or "+".) Attach the other end of the black cable to an unpainted, clean metal surface underneath the disabled car's hood. The engine block is a good choice. Don't connect the black cable to the negative terminal on the dead battery, as this could cause an ignition source that ignites gasoline in the engine bay.

Once the cables are connected the vehicle that has been disabled and let it run for about five minutes before disconnecting the cables in reverse order.
