World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading

Upgrades can boost the value of certain numeric stats on weapons, armor and rings. They also increase bonuses like PvE damage and crit chance.

For instance, a weapon with the upgrade template that is ending in % will suffer 3% attack damage every time it upgrades (relative to its previous value).

Item upgrading costs crests and the item's current level. The cost rises with item's level.

Components

Upgrade components are items that can be put into armor, weapons, and trinkets to give an extra stat boost or effect while they're in use. They can be obtained through making crafts, buying from vendors or trading with other players or looting. Certain upgrades have unique cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components are only available to equipment that has a slot. The item upgrader must be at least upgraded to blue before the component can be applied. Upgrade components, unlike other modifications, can only be applied only once. They are not able to be replaced or applied several times. Infusions and Enrichments are type of upgrade component that can be used to upgrade non-amulet legendary or ascended equipment, as well in some items that aren't ascended. Infusions and enrichments can be recovered by salvaging gear that is ascended or completing an elite mission in the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns.

A prefix or suffix may be added to an upgrade, changing the name of the item it is used on (for example 'Canthan Armor Insignia,' becomes Canthan Armor Minor Vigor). Some upgrades boost the Mark Level or Rarity, which allows players to create stronger versions of the equipment with fewer Upgrade Crystals than are required to reach the same level of upgrade using normal methods.

A boost upgrade is a way to modify the attack or defense characteristics of a weapon or armor. You can find Glyphs in the Black Lion Trading Post, as part of an Gem Store purchase or bundle with certain tools for gathering unlimited use, and through Faction Crypt raids. Every Faction Crypt has the possibility of dropping one of the various Glyphs, and there are some rare glyphs that can be found in the form of drops from any of the four Faction Crypts.

Once you have the desired Glyphs then you have to attach them to your equipment. Each Glyph will unlock a unique bonus that will boost the stats of a specific set of nodes within a radius around the Glyph. Leveling

When an individual player upgrades an item upgrades, the base item is replaced by a new item. This means that the same armor piece will become an weapon or shield once upgraded. The new item also has its own bonus. This could be a drawback, as it can cause the item to become more expensive if you do not require it.

Item upgrades can sometimes be rerolled, if the player has enough reroll tokens to be able to do this. This causes the item to be traded for a new one, which will come with the level 1 base, and a totally different set of bonus bonuses. This can be useful for some items, but it shouldn't be performed frequently, since it can waste many resources.
