Place the blade of your screwdriver or pry bar tool into the slot and gently pry open the back of the fob that holds the key. Once the fob is opened then locate the CR2032 3V battery and remove it. Replace the battery, then snap the fob.

Note: Some older Volvos have a different battery that is called the CR2025. CR2025 batteries are 7 tenths of millimeters thinner than a CR2032 battery, so you'll need to be aware of the location of your replacement.
