Buying a Convertible Single to Double foldable stroller

The news that you're expecting your second child is one of the most exciting things to hear. The preparation for your family's new baby can be difficult.

One of these is selecting the best double pram for your needs. This article will explain the options available along with some tips to help you choose the best Pram double for your growing family.

Convertible double prams

A convertible single to double stroller is an excellent choice if you want a pram that can grow with your family. These innovative frames, such as the Cybex Aton 4 Twin, can be extended in width to accommodate a second seat. They will typically have the option of adding an additional shopping basket, or two car seats/car carrycots (with upper adapters and lower ones available) to allow you to begin your family with just one buggy and later upgrade to twins without needing to buy a new one and again. Double prams provide more seating and configuration options for both children when compared to other styles. They also have better weight distribution making them easier to move around. Pros: Simple to use, compact and versatile. Cons: Less space and storage space for both children compared to other designs.

Tandem (in-line) double prams

As the name suggests, tandem prams have two bassinets or seats for prams that are positioned one in front of the other. They are generally smaller than side-by-side double prams and are easier to manoeuvre through doorways and on public transport. They don't have as much storage and are difficult to reach when both seats are in use particularly if your child is in the front seat.

Many first-time parents opt for tandem strollers to protect their investment in case they have more children with the same age. Our DUO2 pram is a popular example. It's initially a single buggy, but can be upgraded into a twin stroller by adding the second seat. It also converts back into an individual stroller when your older child is no longer able to use it.

Tandem prams come in a range of configurations with the option of an infant to lie in a pram bassinet on top, while an older child is seated in the seat below. They can also be transformed into a travel system with the addition of a car capsule placed in the top seat.

A side-by-side double stroller lets both children to ride together and talk as they go. This will prevent them from fighting or getting up.

A side-by-side is also the ideal choice for grandparents looking to join in on the fun. They can both push the kids around, and help with shopping, running errands and attending events. They're usually less expensive than a tandem foldable pram, making them a great way to introduce grandkids to babysitting duties.

Single prams

A single pram is only capable of accommodating one seat or bassinet/carry cot. It is suitable for infants to around 4 years of age. four years old. A lot of single prams allow a toddler board (depending on the type of toddler board you select) to be tacked to the back so that another child can stand or sit, while you push the stroller.

Some parents who are first-time parents opt to ensure their pram is future-proofed by purchasing a double pram option, such as our DUO2. This means that you will use the pram in single mode when you have just one child, and then switch it into a tandem in-line double pram bag once bub number two is born. This saves you the cost and stress of purchasing an additional double pram.

In-line or tandem double prams might be a little wider than side-byside double prams but they are still easier to manoeuvre on busy sidewalks and inside shops. However, they can be more difficult to use during running and will require more effort to push when going up or down hills.

They are cheaper and last longer than double strollers that convert because they weren't designed to be used both in double and single mode. The biggest drawback is that your child will quickly outgrow the side-byside seats and will have to be moved to a toddler's chair which can be expensive.
