How to Get a Citroen Key Replacement

For instance, higher-end models such as the Xsara Picasso and Berlingo may be more expensive to replace since they come with more advanced features. However, in general, our prices are approximately 50% cheaper than that of the main dealer.

However, this isn't always the case. The keys for cars are also becoming more sophisticated. If the correct PIN is entered by the vehicle when the key was inserted it will respond with an immobiliser code and the engine will begin. This system is known as a chip key and is extremely secure.

If you lose one of these keys it is typically easy to find a replacement from the local auto-locksmith. Citroen automobiles from 1998 and onwards use a different type of chip, called a "fiat" type 33. This type of chip is more difficult to replace. In these instances it is necessary to execute a procedure referred to as 'eeprom-work' in order to get the essential information.

This will eliminate the hassle of going to the dealer who will charge you more for this service. You will require your V5 and ID with you to the dealership to make an order for an alternative key. This could take up to five days. The dealer will have to program the key into your vehicle to ensure that it functions properly. This could cost a considerable amount of money.
