Private ADHD Titration

There is currently a national shortage of medication that helps to treat ADHD symptoms. This is due to manufacturing issues and the growing demand for ADHD medications worldwide.

Our service provides private ADHD titration instead of waiting for NHS funding through Right to Choose. Our assessment fees include the cost of one prescription.

Titration

A highly skilled consultant psychiatrist will conduct a comprehensive assessment of your ADHD. This will include a medical history and an assessment using the standard ADHD rating scales and questionnaires.

Following your assessment you will be informed whether medication may be beneficial for your situation. This will take place at your follow-up appointment (which could be in person by video link, in person or via phone). Your clinician will explain the different options available for you to take medication and, if you choose to begin taking medication, we will recommend titrating the dose to maximize the balance of benefits and side effects for you.

This process could take several weeks, and it involves gradually altering your child's medication until the right balance has been achieved. It is not uncommon to to titrate up to three different medications before you find the one that is most suitable for your child's ADHD. It is important that parents take part in the titration for adhd and be on the lookout for their child's behavior so that they can inform doctors whether the medication is helping or causing adverse effects.

If you decide to go back to NHS treatment you will be issued a private prescription for your medication. You will have to pay for your prescription at the pharmacy. This is not included in the consultation cost. You'll need to attend six-monthly appointments to check your medication. This includes the measurement of pulse and blood pressure. Annual exams are also required.

Follow-up appointments

Once the evaluation has been completed, you'll be able to schedule appointment with your psychiatrist, if necessary. Usually the appointment will take place through a video call using zoom, although in certain cases it might be possible to do an audio-only consultation (again at an additional cost).

At this point, we will discuss any treatment options we have and come up with a unique ADHD medication titration plan. This will include a discussion and review of your dosage of medication and any adverse effects you may be experiencing. The titration sessions cost PS150 for face-to-face sessions and PS60 via telephone or video consultation. The pharmacy will be charged for any cost of medication.

The psychiatrist will ask you questions regarding your family history, the impact of your ADHD symptoms on your life, and any mental health issues you might be experiencing.
