Buying a Convertible Single to Double Stroller

There aren't many things more exciting than hearing that you're expecting your second child. But the process of preparing your family for the arrival of a new member has its own set of challenges.

One of them is deciding on the right double pram for your requirements. This article will review the various options available and offer some tips on how to select the right one for your growing family.

Convertible double prams

A convertible single-to-double stroller is a great option when you're looking for a pram to grow with your family. These clever frames like the Cybex Aton 4 Twin expand in width to accommodate a second seat. They also come with the option of incorporating a shopping basket, or two carrycots/carseats (with upper and lower adapters). This enables you to start your family out with a single buggy and then expand when you have twins. Double prams provide more seating and configuration options for both children compared to other models. They also have more evenly distributed weight which makes them easier to maneuver. They are compact, easy to use and adaptable. Cons: Less storage and less space for both children compared to some other designs.

Tandem (in-line) double prams

As the name implies, tandem prams have two seats or Pram Double bassinets that are aligned one over the other. Tandem prams are generally narrower than side-by-side double prams, and are easier to manoeuvre through doors and on public transport. They don't have as much storage and are difficult to access when both seats are in use especially if your child is in the front seat.

Some parents who are first-time parents opt for a tandem pram to secure their investment, particularly if they're planning on more children who are close to the age of. Our DUO2 pram is a popular example. It starts out as an individual buggy, but can be upgraded into a twin stroller by adding a second seat. It also converts back into an individual stroller when your child's older one outgrows it.

Tandem prams are available in a variety of configurations. For example an infant can be placed in a bassinet on the top of the pram, while an older child is seated on the seat below. The majority of tandem prams can be converted to travel systems by adding car capsules to the top seat.

A side-by-side double stroller lets both children to ride together and talk as they go. This can help to avoid getting up or fighting over toys, and the fact they're seated next to each other allows you to easily go through doors and other obstacles easily.

A side-by-side is the best choice for grandparents who want to participate in the activities. They can carry both children and help pushchair with car seat shopping, running errands or attending events. They're usually cheaper than tandem prams, which makes them an excellent choice for grandparents to help with babysitting.

Single prams

A single pram is capable of accommodating one seat or bassinet/carry cot. It is suitable for infants to approximately 4 years of age. Four years old. A lot of single prams allow a toddler board (depending on the type of toddler board you choose) to be attached to the back so that a child can stand, or sit while you push the stroller.

Some first-time parents choose to ensure their pram is future-proofed by acquiring a double pram newborn option, such as our DUO2. This means that you will use the pram in a single mode while you have one child, and then switch it into a tandem in-line double pram once bub number two arrives. This saves you the cost and stress of purchasing an additional double pram.

Tandem or in-line double prams are larger than side by side double prams, but they are more maneuverable on sidewalks and in stores. They are more difficult to use while running and require more effort to push up and down hills.

They are larger than tandem or in-line double prams however they are an excellent choice if your children are close in age. Children can see each one another and interact from their seats. However, they are less maneuverable and may not fit through doors as easily as tandem strollers.

Non-convertible side-by-side prams cannot be used in single mode - you must purchase a different pram or stroller for your smaller child. They are less expensive and last longer than convertible double strollers because they weren't designed to be used both in single and double mode. The main drawback is that your child will soon outgrow the side-byside seat and will have to be moved to a toddler's seat which can be expensive.
