It is important that you have two keys that are compatible for your vehicle. If you lose the only key, it could be very costly to buy the new one.

How to Replace the Ignition Key on a Saab 9-3

You must replace the car key in the event that it isn't turning. This guide will show how to replace the ignition key on the Saab 9-3. You'll need to replace the key, buy another reprogrammable device, and then purchase a new casing for your key-fob.

Unlike older models, most modern Saab automobiles use a transponder on the key-fob instead of a physical key made of metal to unlock and start the car. The issue with this is that the reprogrammable batteries in the key-fob can wear out and lose charge any longer. This is particularly true if you use the same key for the lock you have.

The good part is that the battery is easily replaced by an experienced locksmith. You can also do it yourself if you have the appropriate tools and a bit of patience. The first step involves separating the key-fob. Insert flatheads into the slot in the middle of your case. You will need to take your time, as the plastic is extremely thin and can be damaged easily.

When the case is opened and the case is opened, you can make the new key by combining the lower portion of the old key with the banana and transponder on the new key. This will ensure the new key is properly connected to your CIM and could make a huge difference when replacing the sole key of your Saab 9-3.

How to Replace the Ignition Key in an XC90 Saab

It could be time to replace your SAAB key fob if it is having difficulty turning the lock barrel. Fortunately, the process is quite simple and doesn't require you to visit an agent. Instead you can complete the process yourself at home, using just some basic tools.

First, you'll need to make the new keys. Before you start, ensure that the anti-theft system has been disabled by placing blocks on your rear wheels and activating the handbrake. After that, put the key in the ignition and switch it to the on position that activates the accessories, but it does not start the engine. Repeat this procedure five times, and then leave the key in the on position.

You'll then have to buy an additional case for your key fob. These are available at most auto parts stores and are usually quite affordable. Depending on the model, you could even purchase them without electronic components.

To open the case to open the case, gently push the flathead screwdriver into the slot in the middle. After you have split the case, you will have access to all of the internal electronic components. To get rid of the electronics, make use of a small screwdriver and attempt to pull them out in a gentle manner.
