It even gave pet waste a wide berth (although it did get caught in socks and baseball caps). It was also great in picking up bigger spills, crumbs and other messes.

This robot can be set to both vacuum and mop on a regular basis that is great if you prefer the mopping option for your floors. It did an excellent job cleaning the surfaces of our apartment with hardwood floors and a few area rug. The mops took longer than we'd prefer, but it still left the floor surprisingly clean.

It can also climb onto high-pile floor coverings however, it might struggle to remove fine debris. It's not perfect with pet hair, but it is better than some of its competitors.

2. iRobot Roomba j9 Combo Plus

The J9 Combo Plus is one of the top-of-the-line Roomba robots. It is suitable for carpets and comes with the most advanced features from iRobot. Dirt Detective is one of the most innovative features. It can be set to repeat cleaning passes and will scan your home to identify the rooms that are filthy. It also features a self-cleaning station that automatically empty debris bags and fills the water tank.

The Combo J9's simple design combines silver and black. It comes with a single button to begin a cleaning task, as well a wall follow sensors and a status indicator. A flap on the back lifts to reveal a bracket which holds the mop plate. The plate is a dual-surface rubber roller brush with a long-haired edge-sweeping brush. The battery has a huge capacity of 5200mAH, which will provide plenty of time for cleaning.

This model is compatible with iRobot OS, which means it will receive updates to its software when they become available. The app lets you send images of obstacles that the robot encounters to iRobot servers to help improve its algorithms. iRobot says that it uses only images from people who have opted to take part in this user-in-the loop training, and that the company doesn't use these images for anything else.

The physical controls of the DreameBot are restricted. The majority of options are accessed via the iRobot Home App or Google Home and Alexa. It's more expensive than the Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra, but has many advantages that are worth the extra cost with a higher vacuuming performance for carpets and rugs with low pile, a much more robust mopping system, as well as a convenient self-cleaning base station.

Like many other robots in this category Narwal is also a robot that Narwal can be controlled through an app and can be set to clean according to a schedule. The app needs a major overhaul, however, because it's confusing and often offers cryptic directions to complete tasks.

Incorporating a floor plan into the Narwal app will allow it determine where to go. The Q5 Pro is a mid-range Roborock product, and is below the S8 Series. This device uses PreciSense LiDAR to navigate around your home in a timely manner and a DuoRoller brush that scrubs off dried-on stains while cleaning. It has a larger onboard dustbin of 770 ml and an automatic emptying docking system to reduce maintenance tasks.

It has a suction power of 5,500 psi, and a dual roller brush that is able to remove pet hairs and dirt from carpets, without getting caught in. It can also be controlled through the Roborock app, which provides additional features that are helpful, like setting digital keep-out zones, quick cleaning mode, and modifying the cleaning patterns.

Despite its incredible performance, the Q5 Pro has some drawbacks. It is prone to getting caught on things like power cords, and has a tendency of bumping into furniture or knocking things off shelves. Roborock's app makes it simple to correct these errors manually. It's also missing advanced mopping features like rotating rollers and front-facing obstacles detection, which the S8 comes with.
