How to Replace a Saab 9-3 Key

The Saab 9-3 is a fantastic car that has a lot of driver appeal. It has good visibility and an impressive performance engine. It also has a top safety rating.

However, it is important to make sure that you have at minimum two keys working for your car. It could be costly to replace a key in the event that you lose it.

How to Replace the Ignition Key in the Saab9-3

If your car's key doesn't engage in the ignition, you need to replace it. This guide will walk you through how to open a saab 93 without a key to do it on the Saab 9-3. You'll have to replace the key, buy an additional reprogrammable cell and buy a brand new case for your key-fob.

Contrary to earlier models, modern Saab automobiles use a transponder on the key-fob instead physical key that can be used to unlock and start the car. The rechargeable batteries contained in the key-fob inevitably become worn out and will not be able to hold charge. This is particularly applicable if you are using the same key for the lock you have.

The good news is that the battery can be replaced quite easily by a professional locksmith. If you've got the right tools, and a little patience you can do it yourself. The first step is to disassemble the key-fob off. This is done by inserting a flathead screwdriver into the slot located in middle of the case. The plastic is brittle, and it is susceptible to being damaged.

After the case has been opened, you can create the new key by combining lower part of old key with transponder and banana. This will ensure that the new key is linked to the CIM properly, which can be the difference in replacing the primary key for your saab 93 replacement key 9-3.

How to replace the ignition Key in a Saab 900

If you don't have two keys, you'll have to take off the steering wheel and dashboard in order to access the ignition. Begin by disconnecting the negative battery cable. Once the battery is disconnected, you can remove all the trim pieces as well as dashboard pieces that surround the steering wheel. Once the dash is removed, you can insert a screwdriver into the opening on the back of the ignition switch and take it out.

The ignition cylinder is equipped with a key lock, which could prevent the vehicle from starting if it does not have the key inside it. How to replace the ignition Key in the Saab9-5

The metal part of a classic Saab key is easy to copy, and is not much of an impediment against vehicle theft. The electronic component of the key-fob is equipped with an embedded chip that can identify the car when the key is inserted into the ignition switch.

How do I replace the ignition Key on the Saab XC90

If your SAAB 9-3 key fob is having trouble turning the barrel of the lock, it may be time to replace it. Fortunately, the process is quite simple and doesn't require you to visit an agent. Instead you can complete the process yourself at home with only a few tools.

It is first necessary to prepare the new keys. Before you start, be sure that the anti-theft system is disabled by placing blocks on the rear wheels and activating the handbrake. Next, put the key in the ignition and turn it to the on position which activates the accessories, but does not start the engine. Repeat this procedure 5 times, and then put the key on the "on" position.

You'll then need to purchase an additional case for your key fob. These are available at most auto parts stores and are typically extremely affordable. Depending on the model, you could even buy them without electronics.

To open the case to open the case, gently push the screwdriver with a flathead into the slot in the middle. The case should split easily and, once you've got it open, you'll get access to the internal electronics. Use a flathead screwdriver to gently pull out the electronics.
