How to Replace the Ignition Key in a Saab9-3

If your car's key doesn't engage in the ignition it is time to replace it. This guide will walk you through the steps to do it on the saab 9 3 key replacement 9-3. You will need to replace the key, purchase an additional reprogrammable cell and purchase a new case for your key-fob.

The majority of modern Saab models make use of transponders instead of a metal key to unlock the car and then start it. Once the case is opened then you can prepare the new key by combining the lower part of the old key and the banana and transponder on the new key. This will ensure that the new key is mated to the CIM correctly, which could make a huge difference when replacing the sole key for your Saab 9-3.

How to Replace the Ignition Key in a Saab 900

If you don't have two keys, you'll have to remove the dashboard and steering wheel to access the ignition. Start by disconnecting the negative battery cable. Once the battery is removed, you can remove all trim pieces and dashboard pieces that surround the steering wheel. Once the dash is removed, you can place an opening with a screwdriver behind the ignition switch.

The ignition cylinder has an ignition lock that can stop the vehicle from starting if the key isn't there. If the ignition switch on your 900 doesn't work properly, check to see whether the key is within the lock or snared inside the barrel. You should also rotate your keys and keep them clean to prevent being bent.

How to Replace the Ignition Key on a Saab 9-5

The metal component of classic Saab keys is simple to duplicate and does not pose a serious threat to theft of vehicles. The electronic part of the key fob has an embedded chip that can identify the car when the key is placed in the ignition switch.

Saab's anti-theft system has relied on this technology for more than 10 years. It's not as secure as an actual lock on the door, but it does make stealing your own car significantly more difficult. Every Saab owner should keep a spare Saab key in their car.

The majority of new Saabs come with two keys from the factory. However, you can buy more keys from an agent using a handheld computer, called Tech-2. Tech-2. How to Replace the Ignition Key in an XC90 Saab 93 Replacement key

If your SAAB 9-3 key fob starts having problems turning the lock barrel it could be time to replace it. It's relatively simple and doesn't require you to visit a dealer. You can do it at home using just a few simple tools.

The first step is to prepare the new key. Before you start, be sure that the anti-theft system has been disabled by placing blocks on the rear wheels and activating the handbrake. After that, insert the key into the ignition and turn it to the on position that activates the accessories but does not start the engine. Repeat this procedure 5 times, and then leave the key on the "on" position.

Then you'll need to buy an additional case for your key fob. They can be found in most auto parts stores and are generally very affordable. You can buy them without electronics depending on the model.

To open the case simply push the flathead screwdriver into the slot in the middle. When you've split the case, you will have access to all of the internal electronics. To take the electronics out, use a small screwdriver and try prying them out in a gentle manner.
