Buying a Tandem Double Buggy

A tandem double buggy can be a great choice if you have twins, or children who are close in age. They're smaller than side-by-side buggies, and ideal for maneuvering tight spaces, such as doors, on public transport and on rocky terrain.

Some can be converted to travel systems that can take two carrycots or car seats for children. They are often heavier, longer and less stable than a single pushchair.

Convertible

There are many options to add a second seat or converting a single stroller to double. The UPPAbaby is a spacious, gorgeous stroller. It can easily be converted from a single to a double by adding an Rumble seat. It is more expensive and less maneuverable due to the fact that the second seat is placed behind the first seat. The Nuna Demi Grow is a similar option with great seating versatility but does not have storage under the seat when used in doubles mode.

Other alternatives include twin buggies with all-terrain wheels, and joggers with fixed wheels that can accommodate two children. These tend to be more expensive, but they're made to last longer on rough terrain and can have more resale value.

Reclining seat recline independently

If you need a double buggy to transport children of different ages then you're going to need a buggy that has an independent seat recline for both seats. This allows your older child to be able to relax while your baby is sleeping in a bassinet and vice versa.

You'll also have to think about the size of the pushchair, as this will impact the ease of get through doors and on public transport.
