Buying a Pram Newborn

Prams and pushchairs are multifunctional, versatile allies of parents and caregivers. They're the co-pilots of the new journey of your child.

A pram newborn is a must for infants and newborns. It comes with a the most solid, sturdy carrycot with soft and safe walls.

A pram is typically equipped with a bassinet. However, it can be transformed into an infant stroller seat once baby is ready.

Safety

Newborns must be protected as much as possible. A stroller or pram that has safety features will keep your baby in a safe and comfortable environment during travel. A cheap stroller or pram must have a working break, a 5-point harness (2 shoulder straps with two waist straps and an e-crotch belt) and a wrist tether for the person pushing it. Make sure the pram you select is in compliance with these requirements.

Find a pram that allows your infant to be seated in the suggested lie-flat position. This position is supportive for your baby and helps prevent the risk of a dangerous curve in their spine that could cause problems with their spine. By keeping the airways open, it lowers the risk for SUID (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome or Asphyxiation). Most prams that can be used from birth will come with the seat unit, which will recline to a lay-flat pram mode for younger babies and then transform into a pushchair unit for older children.

The suspension of a pram will determine how smoothly it rides. A pram with lots of suspension is likely to be more costly but it may be worth the cost of this feature if you intend to use your pram daily for a couple of years or longer.

You should always take the time to go through the instruction manual and examine the warning labels for your pram or my babiie stroller. You should also make sure that your stroller is placed in a safe spot free of bicycles, traffic or other hazards when it's not being used. It is also important to remove any bags or other objects from the handles as they can cause your baby to become caught or suffocate.

A stroller or pram should never be left unattended with a child in it even if they're asleep. They may squirm into the stroller and become trapped, or slide away and cause injury. It's not recommended to hang bags or other items from the handles because they could fall and strike your baby's head.

Comfort

Possibility of lying flat seating is an absolute must for newborns, because it helps improve lung and back development. Carrycots or cocoons are available on many prams. They create a nest-like space that is comfortable for your baby and can be detached easily from the frame. Others, like the egg2's bucket-style seat don't recline to lie flat but still offer a comfortable ride for your baby.

Some prams come with a separate bassinet, newborn inset or stroller seat, so you can easily switch between sleeping and sitting modes based on your baby's requirements. It is often described as a "travel system" and is the initial configuration that you should try out with your newborn.

Choose a stroller with two shoulder straps which are cushioned and a five-point security harness. It must fit your child's body perfectly. Check that there are no gaps, or loose areas, where fingers could get caught. Also, ensure that the buckles are easy for older children to use. You should also consider if you'd like a pram that is oriented towards parents. It is great for keeping an ear on your child and makes them feel more secure by seeing their parents.

This is an excellent way to stay connected to your baby, particularly if they're sleeping. If you're looking to purchase a travel system, be sure to check the frame is compatible with your car capsule and this will prevent the need to wake them up every time you're changing between car, pram and back again.

Convenience

When buying a pram newborn it is essential to consider your baby's needs for transport. Some prams come with a bassinet or carrycot, that allows your baby to lie flat (essential for their spinal development and breathing) while others have seats that recline into a flat position. It's also a good idea to check out the other accessories are included in the pram, such as the footmuff and changing bag which are essential to keep your baby warm in the colder winter months.

Also, ensure that your pram newborn has a sturdy base and wheels that can withstand bumps and potholes and that you are able to fold it up easily and ensure that the safety harness is functional and fits comfortably (five-point instead of three-point) and is able to be adjusted as your child grows. You should be able to store bags for changing and shopping underneath the pram (but keep in mind that too much weight could cause it to tip over).
