How to Choose the Best Double Stroller

If you're looking for a double stroller there are a variety of options. To help you select the best one for your family, we talked to experts in child development as well as mom Katie Billingsley.

You should choose a stroller that is easy to fold, push and carry. You should consider a stroller that can hold two infant car seats or a toddler with a riderboard.

Safety

Choose a double-stroller which comes with all-terrain tires and a brake that is operated with a hand if you want to keep your kids safe while walking. These brakes and wheels help you navigate trails and gravel without your children falling or rolling. The best double strollers come with plenty of storage space for gear as well as kids-sized items like snacks and toys.

Choosing the right double stroller for your family starts with understanding the age and distance in terms of age your children are. Many double strollers only can accommodate one child's seat, but the ones do come with different configurations, so you can select the type of seating that best fits your kids and your lifestyle.

Side-byside doubles are a popular option, and they're great for kids of similar ages that like to play with one another. Simple to Use

Double strollers are usually an investment of a significant amount that you will use for many years. If you are looking for a double stroller, be sure it is easy to use and clean. Luckily, the most effective double strollers are designed to be as user-friendly as is possible and come with plenty of useful features for parents.

For starters, all the strollers we tested fold up easily and compactly (with only one hand!). They are also light and ideal for traveling. A majority of them are gate checked on airplanes and fit in most trunks. Many of our test subjects discovered that their strollers could be folded down smaller than the single seat equivalents. Some even came with a carrying strap.

The Valco Snap Duo trend is a double stroller with a lot of versatility that will grow with your family. This side-by-side stroller can be used with infant car seats, a bassinet and other accessories, so you can use it from birth until the age of preschool. Each seat is equipped with a five-point harness and a large canopy that gives ample protection from the sun.

Another option that is highly regarded is the Joovy Twin Roo. This stroller is lightweight and extremely compact, measuring just 22 pounds and 26 inches in width when folded. The front seat reclines to nearly the full flat position and the back seat comes with an adjustable recline for each child. This stroller is easy to maneuver and use thanks to its large storage basket, simple one-step parking brake and large storage basket.

The only downsides of the Joovy Twin Roo were minor and specific to the model in question. Kerry notes that the packaging was fun and clever, but that it came in five boxes which could be a hassle to lug around. She also found that Genuis's magnetic buckle was difficult to master. She was happy with the stroller in the end and would highly recommend it.

Stores

Strollers are available in various sizes and designs, including tandems (single-file seating) and side-by-side doubles and some that let you customize the setup with an automobile seat or bassinet attachment. Some come with rider boards that can be added for older siblings. They're not all created equal. Some are light and easy to use, while others are bulky, heavy and difficult to fold.

If you're looking for a lightweight stroller that can hold two kids and two children, the Joovy Caboose Graphite is a great option. It was the lightest option in our tests, weighing around 23 pounds and is also easy to fold, yet it still has all of the features parents require to enjoy a great time with two kids.

The Vista v2 Double from UPPAbaby is a different model that our testers adored especially for its sleek design and user-friendly. It can accommodate two infant car seats, a toddler's seat and a bassinet. There are no adapters needed. The rear seat can be removed to create triple or quad stroller. It comes with a large storage basket that can be upgraded to include an organizer for parents with wheels for all-terrain and side storage bags.

Billingsley states that the best double stroller for a toddler is one that offers numerous options for customization. This includes a bassinet or seat that can be removed. Toddlers can be limited in their endurance and strollers with an attached bassinet will provide a safe place for Pushchairsandprams them to sleep. She suggests that a double stroller should also have a great recline position and harness system and plenty of storage space for snacks and toys.

The ZOE Twin+ is a popular choice among parents because of its light weight and flexibility. It is airline gate-check friendly it can be accessed through all doors (without removing the wheels on the front), and can be made into a quad or triple stroller by adding an add-on tandem. Its nearly flat, independently reclined seats, extra-long sun canopy and footrests that can be adjusted are other highlights, while its large underseat storage basket and inclusion of kid and parent cup holders round out the impressive feature set. Taylor says that the only disadvantage is that it has a a large profile when folded, and can be difficult for parents to stow.
