Nespresso Coffee Machines

The Original line is more expensive and comes with Creatista or Lattissima espresso machines with built-in milk frothers that can make lattes and cappuccinos with the touch of a button.

The Lattissima Line

This line is perfect for those who want an appliance that can make cappuccinos lattes and other milky coffee drinks. It comes with three different recipes and its 4.2 ounce milk container can be removed and washed in the dishwasher. It is also lightweight and easy to store and move in small areas. Some users have complained that it's not as intuitive as other Nespresso machines.

Its jug has drink-specific lines that are etched into it, which means you can decide beforehand which drink you'd like to make as the machine is heating up. It comes with a sensor that automatically stops the steaming when it runs out of milk.

The Lattissima One is a good value for its price It's available in four colors: black with gray accents, dark gray porcelain white and silky white. The machine is easy-to-clean and has a minimalistic aesthetic that won't overwhelm smaller rooms. It is also reasonably priced, with a retail price of $385/PS279

Like the OriginalLine models, this one also has an automatic drip tray that captures any loose grounds as you pour your espresso. It's a great feature to minimize mess, and also helps prevent overflow that can alter the taste of your coffee.

The Pro and Gran Lattissima both have a larger water tank than the Lattissima One, allowing them to hold more liquid prior to needing to refill. The two models also have a faster heat-up time (as as little as 15 seconds for espresso and 25 seconds for a lungo) and feature an upgraded hot water function for making tea or iced coffee.

The only real disadvantage of the Lattissima line is the difficulty in altering the consistency of the foam you make. The machine can only be used with skim milk (sorry vegans and people who are lactose-intolerant), and the foaming system does not work well with vegetable or almond milks. The wand that froths is difficult to clean. This is a typical complaint from Nespresso users. Fortunately the Lattissima Pro and Gran Lattissima have a self-cleaning mechanism that cleans the milky insides after each use of the frother.

The Vertuo Line
