Volvo Key Fob Troubleshooting

Volvo owners appreciate their key fob's handy remote features. They can lock and unlock their car or start the motor and even locate it with an app for smartphones.

Place the fob's front up on a clean surface. Find the button that will let it go. Place a coin between the cover of the fob and the fob, and slowly pull it up.

Unlocking the Doors

Volvo's remote keyfobs unlock your car's doors, tailgate and fuel filler flap with the push of one button. They also can switch on the ignition, turn off the alarm, and even operate your sunroof if equipped. It's no longer necessary to search for your keys or be locked out of your vehicle.

If you're using a brand-new Volvo model from our dealership, then you may not be aware of its key fob hidden features. You can use the lock/unlock option manually if the battery in your key fob fails.

Hold your key fob with Volvo logo in the front to press the manual lock/unlock. Find the black button at the edge of your key fob, and gently press it. This will open a cover which is a cover for the manual key blade. You'll require a flathead screwdriver, or a coin to flip this cover counterclockwise so that the arrow is aligned with "open."

Beginning the Engine

Press and hold the unlocking button on your Volvo remote control for four seconds. This will lower the windows and the sunroof if you have one. After that, once you're finished with the car, you can close everything by pressing the lock button for Volvo Key fobs four seconds.

You can also activate the panic alarm in your car with the key fob. This will sound an alarm that is loud and attention-grabbing that will frighten off thieves and allow you to return home safe after a long night out. Opening the Tailgate

For example, if you have the available Hands-Free Power Liftgate with logo projection and programmable height (if equipped) You can open it using the key fob. Simply press the button to open it, and then use the same button to close it once you're done.
