Best Self-Empting Robot Vacuums and Mops

It has a bigger bin, and performs better on any surface type and is able to climb over obstacles that are low in elevation (like electrical cables) more easily.

The RoboVac 11S is a good choice for regular vacuuming. It shares a similar design to our top pick and is great in removing smaller and fine dust from hard floors. It also does a good job on medium- and low-pile carpet. Similar to the Roomba from iRobot Roomba, it has a huge dirt compartment and utilizes BoostIQ to automatically adjust suction power. It also has an adjustable remote that is easy to operate and allows you to program daily cleaning routines with the app. The battery can last for around an hour and the dustbin is able to be cleaned without taking it from the dock.

You can program the S7 with the companion app to run a cleaning cycle according to your schedule. You can choose an option for cleaning like eco or automatic, and a day, week or time. You can also choose whether the robot will cease operation if its power is exhausted or if it encounters an obstruction.

You can still use the S7 even if you don't own an iPhone by connecting a charging dock to a remote control. Shark isn't as well-known for robot vacuums as iRobot and Self-Emptying Robot Vacuums Roborock however our experience with Shark has proven it to be one of the most efficient self-emptying robot vacuums currently on the market. It's easy to set up and has a large bin that can be easily emptied (albeit loudly) to a trashcan when full. It can also be programmed to clean your entire home on a regular basis.

The IQ XL is able to connect to your WiFi at home, allowing you to monitor its progress on cleaning from the Shark app. The app lets you set up a cleaning routine, receive push notifications regarding its status, pause cleaning and resume cleaning or set it for one specific area. You can also control it using voice commands using Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant. The app will show you what power mode is currently selected which is Eco, Maximum, Normal, however we found that none of these modes made a noticeable improvement in the performance of cleaning.

The IQ XL will automatically empty the bin at the end of a cleaning cycle into the base, which will self-empty. Its bin can hold up 60 days worth of waste It won't require emptying more frequently than that, unless you own many pets with hair that is long. If you need to empty it, you can simply take the side container off and place it over the trash can, and then press the button.

The Shark IQ XL is a great vacuum cleaner. It does a decent job of cleaning floors with no dust and can maneuver itself well. However it's not the best choice for carpeted floors. Shark IQ XL feels a little less solidly built than the Roomba 694. It clears lots of dirt from bare floors and does a decent job of moving itself around however it's not as close to achieving the same performance as the iRobot Roomba i7 in regards to performance on carpeted surfaces. The i7 also feels more robust, more durable and requires less maintenance. It incurs lower recurring cost and charges faster and has similar battery performance. It also comes with more advanced automation features, such as no-go zones and the ability to select specific rooms to be cleaned.

iRobot J7+

This robot vacuum and mop self empty vac/mop combo is a rare beast, as it does both jobs very efficiently. iRobot Combo J7+ comes with all the smarts and self-Emptying robot vacuums features similar to its j7 counterpart including LiDAR maps and self-emptying. It also comes with additional features for mopping and vacuuming.

The j7+ makes use of the latest acoustic sensor to determine the type of floor which allows it to vacuum or mop the room in its first attempt. This information can also be used to determine the best robot vacuum and mop self empty cleaning options for rooms with carpets and rug versus those with hard flooring.

The J7+ is quieter than most robotic vacuums when running, and even quieter when it's mopping. The highest reading we could get on our decibel meter was 64db which is comparable to the noise of general office chatter.

It is easy to set up a cleaning schedule and alter what happens when the dust canister is full. The j7+ can be controlled by voice assistants (Alexa, Google Assistant, etc.) The app lets you create and view maps in your home.

In our tests, the j7+ performed well on both hard and carpeted flooring, removing the majority of the dirt we threw at it. It isn't able to deal dealing with pet hair, large pieces of debris and sand. However, it is able to remove them with a bit more effort. It also has decent navigation capabilities, as well as a pair of cliff sensors to stop it from falling down a flight of stairs or getting stuck on furniture legs.

The J7+ has some minor flaws. One of them is that it can get caught on rugs or cords and it doesn't always turn off the mopping function when it's finished vacuuming. Otherwise, this is an excellent model that ticks all the right boxes.
