Avon Book

In this book, Darrow creates an interesting back story for Avon and imitates the lively style of dialogue that Blake's 7 was known for fairly well but unless you are a fan of the show it's likely not for you. The story revolves around the relationship between Avon, Vila and their mutual respect and dislike of the other's ruthlessness and cowardice.

There are some really captivating scenes in which Avon is faced with the tough choices to protect his team and shows his more gentle side. The characters are given a amount of depth and each one has their own distinct personality that makes them believable. This is a story you'll want to read more of. The writing is flawless and there's a real feel for the world that it is set. It's a masterpiece by an author at the height of her ability.

The Setting

The Author

Avon sold millions of books a year during the 1950s. They were so successful, in actual they were so successful that the Hearst Corporation bought them in 1959.
