How to Repair a Kia Sportage Key Fob

Check to ensure that the key fob has not simply run out of energy. The key fob has metal clips that keep the button cell battery in place, and if the clips aren't secure enough, they might not be able to complete the circuit when connected to the remote control. Replace the battery, ensuring that it has the same voltage, size and specifications.

A dead coin battery is a major cause of a key fob not working in a Sportage the majority of the time it's a fairly obvious problem to recognize. If you have tried reprogramming the remote control, but it's not working, or has stopped working after being dropped on a hard floor the key fob could be faulty. If you are still seeing the warning and horn lights flashing while trying to start your vehicle and you are unable to do so, please contact your dealer. The vehicle warranty does not cover the unauthorised use of smart keys.

Battery

The battery that is in the Kia Sportage key fob isn't that expensive, but it will need to be replaced every now and then. The new battery can be bought at your local auto parts shop or hardware store. You must first disconnect the negative cable prior to getting rid of the old battery. This will draw out the remaining electricity and prevent the circuits from causing a short.

When replacing the battery in your fob's keychain, it's essential to select a good quality one. The quality of the battery will determine the lifespan of the fob. It's also important to check the voltage frequently. If the voltage is low, the battery may be defective.

The replacement procedure is simple, and one can generally do it on your own without the need for any tools. You'll have to insert a key blade into the small slot at the bottom of the key fob, and then rip the casing out. You can then replace the old battery and reassemble the fob.
