The Importance of Garden Flowers

Flowers add color and beauty to our gardens as well as the environment. They also play an important role in the process of reproduction and seed dispersal.

To provide an understanding of the role that roses play in the cultural ecosystem services Headspace volatiles were identified and analysed by GC-MS from five cultivars within the 'Mella' series ('Barbie Mella', 'Ruby Mella'as well as 'Ducat Mella'and 'Amulet Mella' and "Exotic Mella'). Most lilies like soils that are slightly acidic to neutral in pH. They are not tolerant of standing or stagnant water.
