What to Do With Your Rep Kit

Rep kits are an excellent way to fix your equipment until you get to the trailhead and get it repaired professionally. The key is knowing what you can do with it if you need it.

Having the right tools available is critical when on the job. This kit is designed with that in mind and includes all the essential hand tools needed to repair equipment in the field. The tools are made of metal and feature minimal plastic so they can endure the use. The kit comes complete with an open-top canvas coalcracker tools pouch including awl, reamer and twisted awl, cutting shears, Gimlet (5MM) sinue spool made of wood, a bottle of coalcracker oil and illustrated instructions.

Repair Patches

If you've got a gap or two in your gear, you might want to consider adding some adhesive patches to your rep avon kit. These patches are made of high-performance glue already applied on a durable polyurethane back that allows a tear under pressure to recover. Available in clear or colored versions they offer a long-lasting protection against punctures, moisture saltwater, sunlight and temperature extremes.

If your kit isn't stocked with any of the above items, consider adding a bag with waterproof Aquaseal wader repair sealant. This water-tight glue can be applied to fabrics, plastics, metals, and more for an enduring fix. This glue is ideal for fixing drysuits, and is also employed in the field. Use the tube-scuffer tool to roughen the surface. This will help the glue stick. Spread a thin layer on the patch. Cover an area which is at the very least large as the patch. Let the glue get tacky, then press the patch down with a firm pressure and secure it.
