What to Do With Your Rep avon starter kit

It is essential to be equipped with the right tools on hand when you are out in the field. This kit avon was designed with this in mind and includes all the basic hand tools needed for rep kit repairing items on the field. The kit comes complete with an open-top canvas coalcracker tools pouch with awl, reamer, twisted cutting shears and the gimlet (5MM), wooden spool of sinue, a bottle of coalcracker tool oil and illustrated instructions.

Repair Patches

If you've got a hole or two in your gears, consider adding some adhesive patches to your rep kit. These heavy-duty patches come with an ultra-high-performance adhesive that is applied to a durable polyurethane backing that lets a tear heal under pressure. Available in clear or colored options These patches offer durability against moisture, punctures, sunlight, saltwater and extreme temperatures.

If your kit does not contain any of the above items, you might want to consider adding a bag of waterproof Aquaseal wader repair sealant. This water-tight adhesive can be bonded to fabrics and metals to create an indestructible fix. It's great for repairing drysuits and can be applied on the job. Let the sealant sit for up to 12 hours for rep kit it to cure before utilizing the repaired equipment.

The essential field fabric kit for tents, packs and rainwear made of silicone-impregnated polyester. The kit comes with one Clean Tape repair patch as well as sil-nylon swatch. Also included is a 1/4-ounce Gore-Tex Sealant & Repair Adhesive & Brush for sealing. Apply patch to a clean smooth, flat surface. There should be a minimum of 1/2 inch overlap. Remove release paper from patch surface and rub adhesive with moderate finger pressure (adhesive side up).

Surface preparation is vital for successful repairs; oils on boots or shoes, sunblock or solvents like acetone may affect adhesion. To get the best results, use Seam Grip alone or with Cotol-240 Cure Accelerator to speed the curing process to 2 hours.

Adhesive patches

If you're out on the trail and don't have the time for a full vulcanising repair the patches that are self-adhesive can get you back on the saddle in no time. Apply the self-adhesive patch then roll it on.

Clean the punctured area thoroughly Then use the tube-scuffer or sandpaper to roughen the surface, which makes it easier for glue to stick. Apply a thin layer of glue over the patch. Cover the area with a layer that is at least big as the patch. Let the glue become tacky and then press the patch in firmly and hold it in place.

This kit contains two clear, adhesive-backed Tenacious Tape fabric repair patches. It also comes with a 1/4 ounce Seam Grip urethane sealant and repair adhesive. Ideal for strengthening damaged sleeping bags, rainwear, and packs.
