CSX Transportation

CSX Transportation is the railroad division of a holding company that owns a variety of nonrail and rail assets. The company was established through the gradual merger between the Chessie System Railroad Corporation and the Seaboard System Railroad Corporation.

CSX is focused primarily on freight traffic, although certain passenger operations have rights to trackage along its lines. This includes the Silver service from New York to Miami and Palmetto services that travel south on CSX routes.

History
