Window Wanderland and door fitting romiley Community Hub

Romiley is an English town and suburb. It is served by a tiny railway station. Its main street, Church Lane, is lined with historic buildings and a church.

Ami and Melanie put their art-teaching experience to use, creating flyers and help sheets with inspirational images. They also contacted all of the volunteer organizations in the community and arranged to create a huge group art piece for glass repair romiley's community hub.

Window Wanderland

Window Wanderland is a fun, family-friendly event that allows residents to decorate their Double glazed windows Romiley facing the street with light fixtures. These displays create an after-dark walking trail that transforms local streets into art galleries for outdoor use. Kenilworth residents will be seeing their front windows and gardens decorated with Christmas cheer this year as part of a new Window Wanderland project. The COVID-safe community art and wellbeing project will see homes, schools, businesses, and community groups decorate their front windows and front gardens with illuminated displays. Residents can sign up online for the project and a map will be available to help visitors plan an excursion of the lit frontages.

Ami and Melanie two local artists, set up the project. They urged their friends to create spooky displays for their windows in the days leading up to Halloween. They challenged them to make their homes into winter wonderlands by Christmas. They also developed a help sheet to help people get started and created a series of online workshops. They were able to secure a grant to provide bursaries for people living in the most deprived areas of their community to take part.

Twisted Trees Productions

Twisted Trees Productions is a creative outlet for Ami Horrocks, Melanie Cove and their team. Their work explores how art can connect, heal and transform. Their latest film THE BACK 80 follows Suzanne who's life is turned upside down when she encounters the specter of Bigfoot in the woods of her childhood home. It is powered by Spectrasonics Omnisphere, the new sound library is constantly stimulating - with every sound built entirely from wood and elements of nature.

Volunteers

Ami and Melanie, who were aware that UPVC is prone to becoming dull over time, convinced the other residents to give theirs an exciting facelift. They designed a basic design template for people to use, and kept as similar as was possible in order to make sure that everyone could take part regardless of their skill and ability. They also made good the art-based teaching experience they had gained by creating flyers and help sheets with inspiration images to get people getting started. They even ran online workshops. They collaborated with volunteers from the Life Centre in romiley window repair to create a piece of collective art for their window. This was a great opportunity to increase the visibility of the project and to showcase all the volunteer organizations in the village.

Community Hub

Community Hubs are locations and spaces that bring together many voices from the community to share their diversity, foster and act to promote ideas and actions that support ecological resilience and social sustainability. They are defined by the wide variety of services they provide in their open access as well as the coordination of these services. These features are crucial for a hub to grow and prosper.

Ami and Melanie were keen to make their Window Wanderland project as inclusive as they could, so they worked with local community groups and volunteers to encourage them to participate. They invited residents of social housing estates and also provided bursaries for those who were less fortunate. They also put together a help sheet for people to get started, flyers with inspiring images, and packs of materials. Ami focused on logistics and strategy, while Melanie taught workshops and sourced materials.

Effective community hubs are resilient and adaptable to changing circumstances. They can be set up by not-for-profit organisations or community groups, as well as other stakeholders and are designed to provide an environment that makes people feel safe and secure. The Community Wellbeing Plan 2017-21 of Council is designed to enhance health outcomes and assist residents to lead fulfilling lives. The Community Hubs Framework supports broad policy frameworks, such as The Diversity, Access and Equity Policy and The Community Development and Engagement Policy.
