People who are interested in finding out more about the project are invited attend a public event on May 16, from 6-8 pm at Barstow Civic Center, located at 2400 N. Main Street. The purpose of the meeting is to present project information and solicit feedback from the public. The meeting will begin with a brief presentations, followed by an open forum for comments and questions. All comments will be taken into consideration during the planning stage.

At present, Barstow City is preparing to build the first BNSF train yard. The proposed project will help improve the rail infrastructure of Barstow. Additionally to that, the project will increase track capacity to allow for the growing freight traffic that passes through Barstow.

BNSF recently announced six new Bnsf Railway scleroderma Certified Sites that are the best locations for customer development on the railway's network. BNSF Certified Sites are selected through a rigorous selection process including a thorough examination of the site's infrastructure, local economic benefits and community engagement. BNSF customers who develop at a BNSF-certified site can cut down on up to nine months in construction time because of the higher level of preparation and the amount of investment a site has received.

Hours of Operation

The Pines/Trent crossing is one of the most frequent rail lines in the nation with an average of 65 BNSF freight trains and two AmTRAK passenger trains operating through it every day. It also provides access for over 230 acres of residential, industrial and commercial property. The busy intersection results in approximately 31,000 vehicle-hour delays each year.

To reduce congestion at the crossing, BNSF is building a new bridge structure to provide more capacity and ensure safety. The project will be completed by 2022 and will include an elevated platform as well as an extended span that can accommodate more vehicles and passengers.

More than 35,000 vehicles pass through the Pines/Trent intersection every day. This causes delays for vehicles at the intersection and has led to 49 collisions over the last five years. BNSF is constructing a brand new double track bridge over the existing intersection to deal with the increased traffic.

Peter has been model railwayer since the time when he was just five years old, starting with a scale model railway layout that was built in the basement of his parents. He started his career in 1992 at the Heber valley railroad in Utah and then spent the majority of his 31 years at BNSF in network operations. He is currently the executive vice-president and chief operational officer.
