The tests for blood aren't typically required to diagnose fatigue caused by myeloma. However, the kidneys create a hormone called erythropoietin that signals the bone marrow to produce red blood cells. If the kidneys aren't functioning properly due to myeloma or its treatment, there will be fewer red blood cells will be created and this can lead to fatigue. Other blood tests that are routinely performed include a complete blood count, as well as tests for calcium and phosphorus.
