CSX Transportation Increases Risk of Lung Cancer

Railroad workers are exposed to toxins like diesel exhaust, asbestos and welding fumes. These toxic exposures can lead to serious medical conditions, like occupational lung diseases and industrial cancers.

Court records show that a Chesapeake and Ohio Railroad claims manager warned other railroad officials during a meeting in the year 1955 of the dangers to cancer of diesel exhaust.

Fear of Cancer

Rail workers are required to work close to the tracks and cars used to transport 30 million people each year.
