Pancreatic Cancer Injury

Nerve pain

If a tumor is pressing on nerves (a bundle of nerves known as the celiac plexus) behind your pancreas it may cause pain in your stomach region and back. This kind of pain is known as neuropathic pain. Your doctor may prescribe medications to manage this pain.

Researchers are working on improving the way we assess the pain of cancer and develop new treatments. They are developing animal models to more closely mimic how cancer pain appears in humans. They're studying things like how fast pain manifests and how it feels and how it changes over time. They're also exploring methods to avoid or lessen pain that can occur during surgical procedures, diagnostic procedures, and treatment.
