Renault Trafic Key Fob Review

The Renault Trafic's strengths include an amazingly comfortable and car-like driving experience, and a high real-world fuel economy. The updated model of 2023 has a wide range of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems.

The steering has a nice weighting and The Keylab reactivity, The KeyLab and proved easy to use when taking part in the van's 'parking gymkhana challenge (yours really nailed it and won it, in fact). There's also a "Panic' button that could, theoretically, scare off any potential thieves.

Hidden Physical Keys

Modern car key fobs come with several useful features, including the capability of starting and stopping the engine from a distance. These functions that are hidden can be useful when you're in a hurry or just need to get out of the rain. However, some of these hidden features can be employed by thieves to steal your vehicle.

The key fob emits radio frequencies (RF) that are interpreted by the receiver in the car. The receiver interprets the signals and determines if a button was press to unlock or start up the engine, for example.

When a new key fob has been added to the system, it will send its serial number and the current counter for synchronization to the receiver in a special learning mode. The receiver then saves the data in memory and exits the learning mode. The key fob will then use the encryption key previously saved and the counter for synchronization to authenticate the signal when it is used again.

While this measure of security has proven successful in preventing attacks, it isn't completely secure. A sophisticated attack technique called RollJam [17] has been able to transform this security measure into an exploit. The attacker must acquire future codes that are released by the key fob in order to be successful however, once they are obtained, they could be used to execute an attack replay and gain access to the vehicle.

Pulling the Car Out of the Spot

A feature that is very popular among people with Renault Trafic is the ability to unlock the hatchback and trunk by pressing a button on their key fob. This is a great feature when you have a lot of party items or groceries on their hands and don't want to pack everything away to open the car.

It is also a good method to avoid theft occurring in the first place. A simple press of the panic button will deter anyone who tries to steal your vehicle or break into your home. It will also notify your neighbors. If you feel unsafe on the road, pressing the panic button will notify drivers nearby.

The main reason why the system may not be working correctly is that the key fob could be damaged, either from dropping it or washing it. Other causes are a defective key programmed and an immobilizer malfunction and interference from other wireless devices transmitting at the same frequency. If you're experiencing issues with your module, you should consult a certified Renault dealer or a mechanic for assistance. To reset the module, it could be required to replace the fuse or to disconnect the battery for 15 minutes.

Sunroof Opener

The Renault traffic key fobs come with the sunroof opening and closing feature. This is essential to maintain a comfortable temperature when driving during summer. This feature also lets you open the sunroof for venting the vehicle, which could aid in air circulation during a hot drive.

The console switch is located on the left side of the hatch. The sunroof will be opened until it is in a comfortable position or approximately 75 75%. This is the standard setting in most automobiles. Touch OPEN to open the sunroof completely and CLOSE to close it.

If The KeyLab sunroof isn't functioning properly, it could be that the micro-switch may be malfunctioning. The sunroof motor is operated manually for a brief time to check the current of the motor using an ammeter. Letting the adjusting screw loosen will increase the torque of the slip clutch of the motor, and tightening it will decrease it. Once the slip clutch has been properly adjusted, apply a heavy force Loctite to the adjusting screw locknut.

Another issue that can stop the sunroof from raising is a bad or misadjusted Limit Switch 2. This can cause the lifting arms to retract to their release position for removal, but not raise to the open position. On 1985.5 and later cars the ignition switch has to be in the ACESSORY position (2) to operate the sunroof. The sunroof console switch then moved back ("A" direction) to open, then pushed forward ("B" direction) to close.

Parking

The Renault Trafic is a stylish vehicle with a few modern features. Cameron from Lindenvel Group - who was driving the vehicle during the 2023 Renault Trafic launch event in Sydney was impressed with the car's ease to drive, with nimble steering and a pleasant sense of weight. It was easy to park in the tight 'gymkhana,' where I had to reverse from a garage with a hat' into two other ones.

If you notice an exclamation point on your dashboard it could be because the adaptive cruise system indicating problems. The system uses cameras and radars to monitor the traffic ahead and adjust your speed accordingly.

The yellow warning light, which looks like a car with swirls beneath it, indicates that the stability control has been activated to stop loss of traction. This is usually followed by an audio alarm and should only remain on for a short period of time before going away in order to restore the traction. If it stays on for longer you should check the manual or seek expert help from a Renault dealer or mechanic whenever you can.
