Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia Injury Settlements

Many people feel scared or disenchanted by systems that limit their experience to a formula of numbers or letters. That's understandable.

Leukemia is a condition that occurs when the bone marrow of your body produces abnormal cells that infiltrate the healthy ones. It typically starts with lymphocytes or white cells.

Your doctor will diagnose chronic lymphocytic lukemia based on an examination of your physical, health history, as well as tests of your blood and bone-marrow. This includes a CBC with a blood cell differential.

Causes

CLL is a condition that occurs when normal lymphocytes, or white blood cells, start to multiply and expand without control. These abnormal lymphocytes could block healthy blood cell production, and also hinder healthy blood cell production. This is the most frequent form of leukemia found in adults.

Doctors aren't sure what causes CLL. However, they do know that changes (mutations) in the DNA of blood-producing cells may cause the disease. The mutations could trigger genes that promote cell growth and cause the cells to expand faster than they should.

The cancerous lymphocytes resulting from this can spread to other parts of the body, including the spleen and liver or bone marrow where blood cells are produced. The cancer isn't as risky as other forms of leukemia, which have more mature blood cells, and are harder to treat.

As you age, the risk of developing CLL increases. A family history of bone marrow or blood cancers also raises your risk. Other risk factors include being white and having a previous history of certain chemicals. For example the herbicide Agent Orange used during the Vietnam War is linked to an increased risk of CLL.

Signs and symptoms

Cancers that affect white blood cells, also known as lymphocytes (which fight off infection), are Chronic lymphocytic leukemia railroad cancer settlement lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) and small lymphocytic Lymphoma (SLL). The cancerous cells accumulate and multiply in bone marrow, blood and other tissues. This causes a clogging of healthy cells and hinders the body's functions to function effectively.

There are known risk factors for this type of cancer. Age (CLL is more prevalent in older adults) and family history of blood or bone marrow tumors and exposures to certain chemicals like Agent Orange, used during the Vietnam War, are all risk factors. Race also plays a role. White people are more prone to this type of leukemia.

Diagnosis

The first step is a blood test. The results can help doctors determine what to do next.

The doctor can also order tests to see if the cancer has progressed. To confirm this, they might do the puncture to the lumbar region (spinal tap). The doctor inserts a needle into the spinal cord to drain the fluid. This test is used to look for leukemia cells in the fluid that surrounds the spinal cord and brain.

Bone marrow, the soft tissue that lies in the middle of bones, produces lymphocytes, a type of white blood cell that fights infection. For patients with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia Injury Settlement leukemia, lymphocytes do not mature into healthy cells, and accumulate in blood and bone marrow. This reduces the number of healthy blood cells, red blood cells and platelets.

Prognosis
